The Truth about Enzymes
Bacterial/enzymes are excellent cleaners for
carpets soiled with organic matter such as excrement, vomit, blood
and food soils. However, they are mostly ineffective in removing
urine odor and stains.
Here’s why ….. Bacterial/enzymes work only when
organic matter (their food source) is present. They cannot digest
inorganic matter such as urine salts (the most common source of
urine odors). In addition, they must be kept moist for long periods
of time up to 24 hours. If they are allowed to dry out, they become
inactive and ineffective.
True Deodorizing Action
Kitty Scram is a true malodor counteractant.
It acts on a lasting deodorizing principal. The large Kitty Scram
molecules swallow up smaller malodor molecules completely engulfing
them. Once these malicious malodors are trapped they can no longer
cause odor problems.
Of course, the idea behind true odor
neutralization is to prevent the problem from reoccurring. To bring
about this desired result we have incorporated a quaternary ammonium
compound (the active ingredient in hospital disinfectants). This
ingredient goes to work to dissolve the organic and inorganic source
of pet odors. The result? Dog and cat odors are completely eliminated and they
don’t come back!
Simple Application
Kitty Scram is easy to apply, simply spray a
light mist onto the surface to be deodorized. Use it straight if
you are treating stubborn carpet odors.
Some odors may have saturated to the back of
the carpet and pad below. If you are dealing with such an odor, use
a large syringe (available at most veterinarians) to inject Kitty
Scram into the backing of the carpet pad, or pull the carpeting away
from flooring and apply directly to carpet backing and pad with a
mist sprayer.

Once you’ve eliminated the odor you need to
neutralize the stain. Bacteria present in urine change its pH to a
level near that of ammonia (ammonia is used to strip the color from
carpets).
